Weldon Burge

Freelance Writer/Full-Time Editor/Creator of Web Content

Welcome!

Although I am best known for my gardening articles, I actually freelance for a variety of nonfiction and fiction publications. My nonfiction has appeared in Organic Gardening, Horticulture, Fine Gardening, Gardening How-To, Birds & Blooms, Flower & Garden, National Gardening, Delaware Today, Country Discoveries, Grit, Back Home, The Almanac for Farmers & City Folk, and many other national magazines.

My fiction has appeared in Suspense Magazine, Futures Mysterious Anthology Magazine, Grim Graffiti, The Edge: Tales of Suspense, Alienskin, Glassfire Magazine, and Out & About (a Delaware magazine). My stories have also been adapted for podcast presentation by Drabblecast, and have been accepted for the anthologies Don't Tread on Me: Tales of Revenge and Retribution, Pellucid Lunacy: An Anthology of Psychological Horror, Ghosts and Demons, and Something at the Door: A Haunted Anthology. I have a number of projects underway, including a police procedural novel and an illustrated book for children. I also frequently write book reviews and interviews for Suspense Magazine.

I’m currently a full-time editor for Independent School Management, which provides a wide range of products and services for private schools. I’ve been the editor of Ideas & Perspectives, the company's flagship publication, since 1993. I created, posted, and maintained ISM's initial Web site starting in 1995; I’m still involved in its development and content, and also highly involved in the production of the company's other publications.

Check out my new publishing imprint, Smart Rhino Publications. First up will be an anthology, ZIPPERED FLESH: Tales of Body Enhancements Gone Wrong, to be published in early 2012!
